Roulette payout chart: profit and total return
A checked table of seven standard roulette bet groups, with $10 examples, 37- and 38-pocket probabilities, and a downloadable calculation.

Read the payout convention first
A roulette payout written as 35:1 usually expresses net profit: the winning stake is returned separately. With a $10 straight-up stake, 35:1 means $350 profit and $360 returned in total. Losing the bet costs the $10 stake. Confusing profit with the total returned changes the expected-value calculation. Check the displayed rules before applying this table to a particular game.
The table below uses the standard payouts in the Nevada Gaming Control Board's published Live Roulette rules. Loto-Québec's rules document describes both single-zero and double-zero wheels. These are specific published game rules, not a claim that every roulette product in the United States uses this paytable.
Seven standard bet groups
| Bet | Pockets covered | Net payout | Profit on $10 | Total return on $10 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Straight up | 1 | 35:1 | $350 | $360 |
| Split | 2 | 17:1 | $170 | $180 |
| Street | 3 | 11:1 | $110 | $120 |
| Corner | 4 | 8:1 | $80 | $90 |
| Six line | 6 | 5:1 | $50 | $60 |
| Dozen or column | 12 | 2:1 | $20 | $30 |
| Red/black, odd/even, low/high | 18 | 1:1 | $10 | $20 |
The amounts are per $10 placed on one listed bet, not the total placed across several bets. A split covers two adjacent numbers; selecting two separate straight-up bets gives a different stake allocation. The table deliberately excludes side bets and special zero treatment.
Coverage determines probability; payout determines return
Under an equally likely pocket model, a split wins with probability 2/37 on a single-zero wheel and 2/38 on a double-zero wheel. Its 17:1 net payout stays the same in this comparison. The corresponding chance of winning is approximately 5.4054% or 5.2632%. A larger payout does not itself make a bet more likely to win.
For a single-zero split, expected net per dollar is (2/37 × 17) − 35/37 = −1/37. For a double-zero split, it is (2/38 × 17) − 36/38 = −2/38. Repeating this calculation for each listed group gives the same house edge within each wheel model: approximately 2.7027% or 5.2632%. Different win frequencies still produce different short-session experiences.
Reproduce and reuse the numbers
Select a standard bet in the roulette odds calculator to populate its coverage and payout, then choose the wheel and stake. The downloadable CSV contains 14 calculated rows, covering all seven groups on both wheels. It records probability, house edge, profit and total return with the assumptions stated here.
A five-number bet on 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3 has a separate paytable and is not included. En prison, la partage, bonus multipliers and side bets also require their own calculation. Read the expected-loss explanation before treating a percentage as a prediction of what a particular session will lose.
