New Jersey September 2026 gaming revenue: internet growth offsets casino and sports declines

Read New Jersey’s September 2026 total through its casino, internet and sports components, and distinguish gross revenue taxes from the wider gaming-tax total.

New Jersey’s September 2026 total gaming revenue increased even though casino-hotel win and sports wagering revenue both fell. Internet gaming supplied the offset. The Division of Gaming Enforcement reported total revenue of $579.6 million, up 2.8% from September 2025, in its October 19,2026 release. This is a dated analysis of that monthly report, checked November 3,2026.

One total, three different movements

DGE measureSeptember 2026Change from September 2025
Casino Win$227.8 million−1.3%
Internet Gaming Win$274.8 million+13.0%
Sports Wagering Revenue$77.0 million−14.3%
Total Gaming Revenue$579.6 million+2.8%

The DGE statistical attachment supplies the exact-dollar reconciliation. Internet Gaming Win rose by $31,659,656. Casino Win declined by $2,937,853 and Sports Wagering Revenue declined by $12,834,492. Adding those three changes produces the total increase of $15,887,311. The direction of the overall result therefore does not describe every segment.

The online share increased

Dividing Internet Gaming Win of $274,782,098 by total revenue of $579,562,386 gives approximately 47.4%. The same calculation for September 2025 gives 43.1%. Those are calculated shares within this report’s revenue categories, not shares of all money wagered or of every dollar spent at Atlantic City resorts.

The internet total also contains different games. Its “Other Authorized Games” line increased 13.2%, while peer-to-peer win declined 5.2%. Treating the entire internet result as growth in every online product would overlook that smaller countertrend. Likewise, Casino Win combines slot and table results: slot win increased 4.6%, while table win fell 17.6%.

Do not merge the tax labels

The official release reports $82.7 million in gross revenue taxes. The detailed tax page separately reports $93,380,055 in total gaming taxes, including investment-alternative and additional-tax lines. These totals have different coverage; substituting one for the other creates an apparent discrepancy. The tax table also says its amounts are unaudited and subject to adjustment.

Neither tax total is the industry’s profit. Revenue and tax figures do not by themselves establish the operating costs or earnings retained by each casino, partner or platform. Nor should sports wagering revenue be read as the amount staked. Our revenue-versus-handle analysis explains that separate denominator.

Keep the comparison period intact

Through September, DGE reported year-to-date total revenue of $5.39 billion, up 5.1%; that covers nine months, rather than September alone. Its year-to-date internet increase was 13.2%, while sports wagering revenue was down 6.3%. A monthly comparison and a cumulative comparison can therefore support different descriptions without conflicting.

The report establishes a change in the revenue mix. It does not, by itself, prove why customers changed channels, whether particular promotions caused the movement or whether every operator benefited. The September reporting period, October 19 release date and this later analysis should remain separate when reading the figures.
